FAQs
Answers to the questions we hear most.
What areas of law does you handle?
Our office focuses on real estate, estate planning and probate, business and nonprofit formation, and child-welfare–related matters including parental representation and defense, guardian ad litem appointments, private adoptions, guardianships and conservatorships, and name changes. If you're not sure whether your matter fits, call us — if it's something we don't handle, we'll point you in the right direction.
What areas of law does the office NOT handle?
We do not handle divorce, child custody, or general family-law disputes, bankruptcy, Social Security or disability, personal injury, medical malpractice, criminal defense, lemon law, or expungements. If you need help with one of those, the Mississippi Bar's Lawyer Referral Service at 601-948-0888 can help you find the right attorney, or you can search for an attorney at https://msbar.reliaguide.com/home.
Where is the office located?
123 East Front Street, Suite 3, in downtown Iuka, Mississippi 38852 — between Huntington Bank and the radio station.
What are your office hours?
Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Central. Fridays are by appointment only. Because we are sometimes in court, the office isn't always physically open during those hours, so we see clients by appointment rather than walk-ins. Please call ahead at (662) 593-3079 or book an appointment before stopping by. You can book an appointment online by visiting: https://cjc-intake-forms.netlify.app/
Do you take walk-ins?
No — we're appointment-only. You can schedule a consultation by phone at (662) 593-3079 or online by visiting: https://cjc-intake-forms.netlify.app/
How do I schedule a consultation?
Call the office at 662-593-3079, or book online anytime at https://cjc-intake-forms.netlify.app/. When you schedule, you'll receive a confirmation and any intake paperwork you need to complete before your appointment.
Is there a fee for the initial consultation?
Yes — the initial consultation is $50. (Certain matters, such as guardian ad litem and court-appointed cases, work differently; the office will explain if that applies to you.)
Do you offer payment plans?
We don't offer payment plans at this time, but we do accept credit cards.
What counties do you serve?
Our office practices primarily in the First Judicial District of Mississippi — Tishomingo, Prentiss, Alcorn, Itawamba, Lee, Pontotoc, Monroe, and Union counties. Matters outside that area are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Can I drop off documents?
Yes. There's a black locking drop box to the left of the front door for documents. Please don't leave cash in the drop box.
Can you prepare a deed, lease, or other document without a full consultation?
Often, yes. For straightforward document preparation — such as a deed, lease, or rent-to-own agreement — you don't necessarily need a full consultation. Call the office or email the details to support@nextdoorlawyer.com and we'll let you know the next step.
